UNSOLICITED TELEPHONE CALLS AND MAIL
It has come to our attention that several clients have recently received unsolicited telephone calls relating to their investments. Generally, these are from organisations purporting to be stockbroking firms or investment advisers. If you receive such an approach, you are strongly advised not to divulge any personal details and not to take any action.
The Financial Services Authority (FSA) maintains a list of unauthorised firms who are targeting, or have targeted, UK investors and any approach from such organisations should be reported to the FSA. Whilst the FSA does not deal with specific consumer complaints or provide legal or financial advice, their Consumer Helpline can answer general queries. Their contact details are:
FSA Consumer Helpline: 0845 606 1234
Money Made Clear : 0300 500 5000
e-mail : consumerhelp@fsa.gov.uk
If you wish to limit the amount of unsolicited mail you receive, you should contact The Mailing Preference Service at DMA House, 70 Margaret Street, London, W1W 8SS. Alternatively, you can register online at www.mpsonline.org.uk or call the MPS Registration line on 0845 703 4599. The Mailing Preference Service is an independent organisation which offers a free service to the public. Registering with them will help stop most unsolicited consumer advertising material.
